One of the most historic parts of Fort Worth is finally getting some much needed renovations. The city recently announced they will begin moving forward with a $34 million renovation to Heritage Park. The renovations will turn the park into the gateway between downtown and the future Panther Island.
Heritage Park is where Fort Worth was established as an army post 173 years ago, but for years the area has been fenced off due to safety concerns.
However, that will soon change as the city plans a major renovation project that will reopen the park. “When Panther Island gets built, this is going to be in the middle of everything. So we'll be a little ahead of the curve but we're going to create something special for everyone," said Downtown Fort Worth Inc. President Andy Taft.

Along with the changed to Heritage Park, the project will also update Paddock Park at the foot of the historic courthouse and may include a fancy fountain, according to NBC DFW. The project is expected to be complete by 2026. In just a few years, Fort Worth will look completely different.
