Fort Worth attorney John Scott is stepping down as interim Texas Attorney General.
Scott was named in May as what Texas Governor Greg Abbott called a short-term fill in for Ken Paxton who is facing an impeachment trial in the Texas Senate.
Replacing Scott will be Gov. Abbott's long-term aide Angela Colmenero, who has been serving as Abbott's deputy chief of staff.
Colmenero previously was principal deputy general counsel in the governor's office. She also worked for Abbott when he himself was the Texas Attorney General, including time as chief of the AG's General Litigation Division.
