Everyone has a favorite road trip snack, and for many the choice is always beef jerky. Luckily for those that avoid the popular snack due to dietary restrictions or health purposes, one Fort Worth couple may have come up with the perfect alternative. The couple started a company called “The Good Jerky” that sells salmon jerky that has quickly become a favorite of many.

When most think of jerky, they usually only go for the type made from beef. However, many other forms of jerky are sold, such as chicken and turkey. Of course, those with a pescatarian, paleo, or gluten-free diet are unfairly forced to avoid the snack, which is why Quentin and Lauren Crawford decided to start making salmon jerky. “We want people to know that this jerky is good for them, but we want people to know that it’s also good for the community as well,” said Quentin Crawford, who is President and CEO of The Good Jerky.
According to NBC DFW, the couple first had the idea in 2018 and has since grown their brand to sell salmon jerky all over the country. While some were aware of salmon jerky before, the couple plans to make the snack the more popular form of jerky. With four new flavors coming in 2022, The Good Jerky hopes to one day be recognized as a Texas staple.
