FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The Fort Worth Fire Department is mourning the death of a captain from COVID-19.
Capt. Randy Robinson fell ill after contracting the coronavirus.
Earlier this month in a Facebook post, the Fort Worth Retired Firefighter's Association said Captain Robinson's health had been rapidly deteriorating.
"He is currently in the intensive care unit, he is on life-support with mechanical ventilation," the Facebook post said. "His condition at this time is extreme."
Thursday afternoon, Robinson passed away.
Robinson was a firefighter for 39 years and was assigned to Fort Worth Fire Station 35.
"His family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time," the Fort Worth Fire Department posted on Facebook. "Captain Robinson will truly be missed by all."
Funeral arrangements are pending.
