The woman who was killed in Fort Worth by a hit-and-run driver has now been identified as Susan Simmons.
Police say Simmons was run down on International Parkway at the south exit from DFW Airport last week.
Fort Worth police say Simmons and another woman were leaving the airport Thursday night. Their vehicle slid off the road due to the heavy rain and rolled down a muddy embankment near Highway 183.
Stuck in the mud, they called a tow truck. They climbed back up to street level but while they were waiting, the driver of a pick-up truck slammed into them and just kept on going.
The victims were knocked back down the embankment. Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene from what the Medical Examiner calls multiple blunt force injuries. The other victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators have determined the vehicle involved was a Toyota Tundra, and say it is missing the driver-side rearview mirror.
