More than two years after an elderly Fort Worth man was stabbed to death, his son has been convicted and sentenced.
In February of 2021, an 85-year-old man named Robert Lerma was fatally stabbed in his Fort Worth home. Police arrested his son Ruben Lerma who was charged with the murder.
The younger Lerma was convicted, and on Wednesday he was sentenced to 20 years.
In a victim statement, Ruben Lerma's sister said to her brother, "today isn't about being mad at you. I don't want you to suffer. I don't want our family to suffer anymore."
