FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- If you're interested in getting more involved in your community, Fort Worth wants to hear from you.
Fort Worth needs volunteers to serve on it's Civil Service Commission. The commission monitors the city's personnel practices relating to hiring, firing and disciplinary action.
It makes sure employees, including police and fire, are treated fairly. The time commitment can vary a little, but usually, it's about an hour a month. To apply for the role you have to live in Fort Worth, be at least 25 years old, be of good moral character and be able to pass a background check.
Appointments are recommended by the city manager, but the city council has final approval. The Civil Service Commission is a three-member board. Members serve a three-year term, but there are no term limits.
