A Fort Worth police officer has now been indicted on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in Midlothian.

The charge dates back to September when police got a call from the Love's Travel Stop on Highway 67. The caller said a man had pulled a pistol and pointed it at her.

Midlothian police identified that man as Kouame Kouassi who is a Fort Worth police officer. The case was handed over to an Ellis County grand jury which has now returned the indictment against Kouassi.

Fort Worth Police officials say Kouassi has been placed on restricted duty and his police authority has been suspended during the course of the investigation.

Kouassi had been with Fort Worth Police Department for about five years.
