Fort Worth police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with a suspected road rage shooting that killed an Everman ISD educator early Thursday on Interstate 20.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, Patrick Lawrence faces a murder charge in the death of LaTaivia Davis. Officers said the shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Trail Lake Drive and Granbury Road in southwest Fort Worth.
Witnesses told police that Davis and the suspect were both traveling eastbound when the suspect pulled up next to her vehicle, fired shots, and fled the scene. First responders found Davis inside her car with a gunshot wound and attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The investigation closed eastbound lanes of I-20 for roughly six hours Thursday morning as officers processed the scene. Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed traffic flowing freely again by early afternoon.
Davis worked as an art aide at E. Ray Elementary School in the Everman Independent School District, according to the district’s website. School officials said she was believed to be driving to work at the time of the shooting.\
“The loss of a member of our Everman ISD family is felt throughout our entire school community,” the district said in a statement. “We are committed to supporting our students and staff during this difficult time, and counseling and support resources are being made available to those who may need them.”
Fort Worth police announced the arrest late Thursday, saying it resulted from coordinated efforts involving patrol officers, the Homicide Unit, the Real Time Crime Center, the Operation and Surveillance Team, a recruit class, and the Directed Response Unit.
