Police in Fort Worth say street racing continues to be a problem, and they're working on creative ways to combat it.

Fort Worth Assistant Police Chief Robert Alldredge told the Fort Worth City Council yesterday that while 2021 is only four months old, there have been several hundred reports of illegal hot rodding, which includes street racing and doing donuts in intersections - also known as stunting.

Alldredge says some of the things police are doing to combat it include installing pole cameras, using license plate readers in trailers, monitoring social media and even parking an unoccupied police cruiser in certain areas.

He says the new Fort Worth ordinance making it illegal to be a spectator at these street races makes it easier for officers to track down the perpetrators.
