Fort Worth investigators have not yet determined how a tanker truck driver lost control of his rig which overturned on the Loop 820 service road near Bryant Irving this past weekend.
Fort Worth fire department commanders say the tanker was hauling 125 barrels of fracking salt water which started to leak, presenting a Hazmat threat if the water had entered the storm drains.
Fire crews patched up one leak and repaired a damaged seal to prevent further leakage. They had to wait for the tanker to be off-loaded safely and then they were able to roll the rig back on its wheels.
The driver was checked out at the scene but did not need to go to the hospital.
Fracking creates salt water which is considered hazardous waste because of its high salt content, hydrocarbons, and industrial compounds.
