A 45-year-old man is charged with four counts of aggravated assault and passing an authorized emergency vehicle in connection to an incident that injured four police officers Thursday, police say.

Christopher Ramirez, 45, was arrested Thursday, Dallas police said.

The officers were at the scene of an unrelated domestic violence call in the 3100 block of Community Drive and had set up a perimeter around a home where a suspect was holed up.

A driver -- apparently impatient with the delay -- accelerated through the perimeter and around the Dallas Fire-Rescue trucks protecting the scene, but he slammed into a police patrol vehicle.

The officer inside was thrown free and the unit itself slammed into three officers standing at the scene. All four of those officers were rushed to the hospital. They've all since been sent home, police said.

Ramirez was immediately arrested and jailed on four counts of aggravated assault and four counts of passing an authorized emergency vehicle.
