Dallas police are investigating three shootings in Deep Ellum that left four people dead and at least 15 others injured early Sunday. The incidents unfolded late on Halloween night in the city’s entertainment district as crowds celebrated.
The first shooting was reported about 12:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street. A second occurred at 1:05 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street. The third was reported at 1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street. All three locations were within roughly half a mile of one another.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said during a Sunday morning news conference that investigators had no information at that time indicating the shootings were connected. He said officers had increased their presence in the area ahead of the holiday, with additional staffing planned because Halloween fell on a Saturday.

Multiple people have been taken into custody and are being questioned, though police have not said whether any of them are directly linked to the shootings. Detectives are still searching for additional suspects. Comeaux asked anyone with video or photos from the area to contact investigators.
No officers were injured. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported multiple people with gunshot wounds from the scenes. Some victims also took themselves to hospitals, and the total number of injured could still change as information is confirmed.
The violence disrupted Halloween festivities in the neighborhood known for its bars, restaurants, and live music venues. Police closed streets and managed large crowds as they responded to the separate scenes.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dallas police.
