Due to a recent rise in attacks on women in Frisco, the Frisco police department has called a town hall meeting for Wednesday night to discuss personal safety and crime prevention.
Since September, police say at least four robberies have been committed near Frisco's Regent Park and the victims all fit the same profile; women in their 50s and 60s who are of South Asian ethnicity.
Police say the thieves have used a similar method each time where a man and woman working in tandem engage the victim in conversation while placing jewelry on the victim. When the victim demands they remove it, they do so while simultaneously removing the victim's own necklace which is quite valuable.
But more incidents have been reported outside Regents Park, and they're not confined to any single ethnicity.
On November 14th, there was a purse snatching outside the Target on El Dorado Parkway. Minutes after that, someone tried to snatch a 71-year-old woman's purse outside the H-E-B on Main Street and she ended up getting injured. The next day, there was an armed home invasion on Grandview Drive.
Tonight's town hall meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Frisco City Council chambers.
