Frisco will host a town hall meeting Monday evening to discuss key issues ahead of the upcoming May election, including a proposed $160 million bond to build the Frisco Center for the Arts and a slate of city charter amendments.

The bond, which would help fund a performing arts center with seating for approximately 2,800 people, is expected to cover a portion of the estimated $300 million to $400 million total cost of the project.

In addition to the bond proposal, voters will decide on 12 charter amendments. One of the most significant would reduce term limits for elected officials from 18 consecutive years to six. Another proposal seeks to increase compensation for city leaders, raising the mayor’s monthly pay from $850 to $1,500 and council members’ pay from $700 to $1,200. Other amendments include changes to procedures for filling vacant council seats.

The town hall will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Frisco City Hall. Early voting begins April 22. Election Day is May 3.
