The City of Garland has gotten some complaints about loose dogs in the neighborhood surrounding Montclair Elementary School on Broadmoor Drive. City officials say they have not received any reports of anyone being bitten or attacked - and they would like to keep it that way.
"You can't allow your animal to run at large here within the city, and you can get a citation for allowing that - so we want to prevent that," said Garland Animal Services Director Art Muñoz.
City employees went door-to-door on Wednesday distributing flyers with information about the city's regulations.
"Especially here around an elementary school, we're very cautious of the children," Muñoz said. "We have received several complaints about pet owners walking their pets off-leash. So that's why we're out here, to spread awareness."
