ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD)- While some General Motors factories will be idled next week because of a continuing shortage of computer chips, the Arlington plant will keep churning out the very profitable full-size SUVs it is noted for.

The Arlington workers will remain on their full schedule next week along with their counterparts in four other plants. But all other GM assembly plants in North America will be idle starting Monday.

Like many other industries, automotive assembly is afflicted by world-wide shortage of computer chips which are used in a wide variety of car parts.
