The familiar end-of-the-business-day closing bell on Wall Street happened at the usual 3:00pm Central Time but it was piped in remotely from North Texas.
Representing the New York Stock Exchange Texas Branch, Governor Greg Abbott did the honors from the field of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
“Texas ranks number one for the most businesses listed on the NYSE,” Abbott said before ringing the bell.
The governor then turned to the bell and gaveled it closed several times with a familiar ring that is normally heard from New York Stock Exchange in Lower Manhattan.
“We want to thank you for coming here and locating right here in Dallas, Texas a trading exchange,” Abbott said. “Your first exchange outside of New York.”
Abbott was joined at the bell on top of a stage at center field by Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones.
The New York Stock Exchange Texas Branch is separate from the Texas Stock Exchange that is scheduled to open in 2026.
The Texas Stock Exchange will also be headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
