Texas Governor Greg Abbott is speaking out to criticize the January 6th riot in Washington, D.C.
"Protest is expected in the United States of America, but it must be done peaceably," he said. "Violence and mayhem are not protected by the United States constitution."
The Governor spoke during a conference organized by the Texas Public Policy Foundation in Austin.
"What happened to desecrate our Capitol is irresponsible, disrespectful. It should never have happened and we need to ensure it will never happen again," he said.
Several Texans are being investigated for their actions during the riot, including Larry Brock of Grapevine and Jenny Cudd of Midland.
