Grand Prairie Police say a man was shot and killed by officers late Monday night after he was threatening people and came at police with a gun.

Reports say Grand Prairie Officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Cambridge over 9-1-1 calls regarding a man confronting a neighbor in a threatening manner and potentially under the influence.

When officers knocked on the door they heard a gunshot from inside the residence. Shortly after, the male suspect exited the home, armed with a handgun, and pointed the firearm directly at one of the officers.

Officers fired their weapons striking the subject who was pronounced dead at the scene by Grand Prairie Fire Department personnel. A loaded pistol was recovered by investigators.

The suspect's identity, an adult male, will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office once the next of kin has been identified.

No officers were hurt. The shooting remains under investigation. Both officers have been placed on routine administrative leave.
