Grapevine-Colleyville trustees have approved a proposal that could lead to the firing of Colleyville Heritage High School principal James Whitfield.
The school board was unanimous in approving the recommendation from Superintendent Robin Ryan, saying the vote was "a procedural step" that would allow Whitfield to make his case.

He has been on paid administrative leave since last month.
For the first time, administrators revealed their reasons for taking action against Whitfield, allegations that include insubordination, deleting e-mails as a public record, failing to cooperate with an internal investigation and dishonesty with the media.
Whitfield will receive a formal letter describing the reasons for Ryan's recommendation. He will then have 15 days to request a hearing before the school board.
