A grieving mother makes a desperate plea to the Fort Worth City Council.
On September 15th, Isaiah Lopez, 17, and his brother Elijah, 14, were killed in a crash on West Bailey Boswell Rd.
They were in a vehicle that had collided head-on with a pickup truck east of Boswell High School.
During Tuesday night's public comment meeting, the boys' mother, Clarissa Lopez, addressed the Fort Worth City Council.
"West Bailey Boswell Rd. needs immediate repairs due to various potholes (and) uneven lanes," said Clarissa Lopez. "It's four narrow lanes that are not clearly marked and have faded lane markings. There are no shoulders, no sidewalks, and there is no lighting after dark."
Lopez said West Bailey Boswell Rd.'s needs go beyond the repairs she outlined.
"In addition to these needed road repairs, West Bailey Boswell Rd.'s permanent repairs should include a median and a sidewalk for students walking to and from local schools, the neighborhood Kroger and connecting homes with the local churches," Lopez said.
Lopez noted that the crash that claimed her sons' lives was by no means the only crash on West Bailey Boswell Rd.
"From 2016, there had been over 293 reported crashes," said Lopez, "not to mention that 20 of those reported crashes were at the exact same spot as the crash site where both of my sons lost their lives."
