Group calls for stronger action on Federal eviction moratorium

While President Joe Biden recently signed an executive order extending the Centers for Disease Control eviction moratorium through March 31, the Robert Wood Foundation is calling on the administration to do more.

The foundation is out with a new brief, "Improving Housing Affordability and Stability to Advance Health Equity," which details suggestions for making sure Americans do not lose their homes during the pandemic and beyond.

One recommended step is leaving the eviction moratorium in place until the COVID-19 pandemic is declared over.

Another is closing loopholes that still allow some to be removed from their homes despite the federal order.

Dr. Giridhar G. Mallya, Senior Policy Officer, told KRLD News there have been more than 12,000 eviction filings in Fort Worth since August, with 310 in the city just in the past week.

Dr. Mallya said there are steps Americans can take if they are concerned about being evicted. He talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
