DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Charges have been dropped against the wife of a gubernatorial candidate, who was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
The attorney for Angela West, wife of Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West, says the blood work has come back from the night of her arrest and shows that she had not been drinking and that there was no alcohol or drugs in her system.
She told police she had been drinking lemonade that evening before she was pulled over. Her grandson was inside the vehicle at the time.
Last week Dallas police defended the arrest, showing body cam video of the arrest, claiming that West failed portions of a field sobriety. But West told police she had a brain aneurysm that affected her vision on her right side.
West's attorney George Milner says the officer who arrested his client made a "big mistake".
Dallas police issued a statement saying the officer made a decision based on the information she had at the time.
