A new owner renovating a home in White Settlement was shocked to discover something very unexpected.
According to the White Settlement Police Department, officers responded to a call on New Year's Eve at a home under renovation after the new owner located what appeared to be a military-style hand grenade.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby residents were evacuated from their homes.
The Fort Worth Fire Department Arson and Bomb investigations team arrived and determined that the grenade did not contain any explosive material and that it was a training grenade.
The device was taken away by the Fort Worth Fire Department and all neighbors were allowed back into the area.
