Temperatures in North Texas finally got above freezing Friday afternoon, but that reprieve will be short-lived.
With overnight temperatures dipping into the teens, a hard freeze warning will be in effect starting at midnight Friday night.
And that means road conditions will be extremely dangerous Saturday morning.
"The slight melting and then the refreezing makes the roads even more slippery," says Matt Zavadsky, MedStar spokesman.
Even if the roads look safe; chances are, they won't be.
"We have to worry about what's referred to as black ice," says Zavadsky, "where people are thinking it's water but it's not, it's frozen."
While surface street will be especially dangerous, the main roads won't be any easier to navigate.
"Even some of the major roads like 199 (and) 183, maybe there's one channel that has areas that aren't snow-covered," Zavadsky says, "and those channels are actually ice."
