Dallas County will soon have a new elections administrator, and it's a familiar name.

Following the retirement announcement of Michael Scarpello, the Dallas County Election Commission has tapped Heider Garcia to be its new elections administrator.

"I am honored by the decision of the Dallas County Election Commission to offer me the position of Elections Administrator," Garcia wrote on a Facebook post. "I will be very humble in my new role and work really hard to follow in Michael's footsteps, Dallas deserves the best and I intend to work with that goal in mind."

Garcia had previously served as elections administrator in Tarrant County, until he resigned earlier this year due to philosophical differences with County Judge Tim O'Hare.

Garcia will start his new role in Dallas County on December 20th, the day after Scarpello officially retires.
