Schools across North Texas have started to reopen meaning school zones are becoming more active.
It's been months since those lights flashed in school zones but with districts across North Texas reopening, it's time for a quick reminder about the rules.
- The speed limit in school zones is 20 mph.
- Talking and texting in school zones, even on handheld devices is against the law and violators can be fined up to 200 dollars.
- When in a school zone, follow crossing guards' instructions and always exercise caution when people are in crosswalks.
- Remember to yield to pedestrians.
As a general rule, aways try and avoid distractions while driving, especially around schools and playgrounds.
