Concord Church in Dallas and the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center are preparing to celebrate fathers in a big way.

The church’s "He's My Hero" event is planned for Sunday and promises a day filled with festivities aimed at honoring dads and father figures for their pivotal role in the family and community.

Pastor Bryan Carter of Concord Church is fervent about the importance of fathers. “It’s a great partnership we have with the Heroes Foundation, the Mark Cuban Heroes Center," said Carter. "We’re celebrating dads together with food trucks, music, and sports memorabilia. It’s a day to tell dads thank you for all you do."

This event isn’t just a one-time affair. For the past couple of years, Concord Church and its partners have been hosting the "He's My Hero" event, and each year, the community's response has been overwhelmingly positive.

"It has been a phenomenal event. We’ve had so many dads and grandfathers and bonus dads come out just to feel celebrated," Carter shared.

Understanding the vital role that fathers play, not only in their own families but within the broader community, is crucial to Pastor Carter. "All the statistics indicate that when a father is involved, it impacts a student’s social, emotional, and even academic accomplishments," he noted. "There is something significant about a father’s presence, and we enjoy doing this especially in Southern Dallas."

Carter emphasized that the day isn’t just about fun and games; it’s also about creating lasting memories.

This year includes complimentary photo sessions so families can treasure the moment forever. "We’re excited to have some great partners to make this photoshoot available," said Carter. "We’ve taken care of all the work. All you gotta do is show up with your family, and we can make dad feel really special."

The free photo sessions are first come, first served.

There are lots of attractions, including for sports fans, with great memorabilia from the Mavericks, Rangers and Cowboys.

The event, taking place at Concord Church, 6808 Pastor Bailey Drive in Dallas, will kick off at 9 AM and run until 1 PM. Attendees can look forward to an encouraging message followed by a host of activities.

"You can come for an inspirational message, then we’ll have all the festivities directly following that," Carter said. "It’s all about celebrating dads and letting them know how much we love them."
