An Arlington homeowner fatally shot a woman who he tells police broke into his home early Thursday morning.

The incident happened just after 2 a.m. on S. Pecan Street, just a few blocks from the UT-Arlington campus. When officers arrived, they found the woman dead on the kitchen floor, police said.

Police said the homeowner reported his teenage son woke him up and said he'd heard an unfamiliar voice. The father grabbed his pistol and found the woman in the kitchen. Police said he told them he asked her to get out and he said she became confrontational and advanced on him.

That's when he told police he shot her. Police said no charges have been filed. The woman was not carrying identification, so the Tarrant County Medical Examiner will have to determine who she is.
