Fort Worth Police say a suspect in a homicide led them on a chase across about 25 miles Monday night. They were initially called to a home on Stockton Drive, in Far South Fort Worth, about 6:15 p.m.
"Initial details stated the caller was advising a known person came to his residence and advised he believes he had harmed his roommate," says Fort Worth Police Sergeant Brad Perez.
Perez says officers went to the person's apartment, which was near Highway 287 in Far North Fort Worth, and found a woman dead. He says the suspect had left the acquaintance's house before officers arrived, but they saw him drive by.
"At that point, officers began pursuing the suspect's vehicle in an attempt to stop the suspect. This pursuit lasted approximately 38 minutes," Perez says.
Police say the suspect crashed about 25 miles away along Highway 26 in Hurst when he hit spike strips.
"Trying to take him into custody, a TASER was deployed and used on him," Perez says. "He did receive medical treatment for that before he was taken into custody."
No officers were hurt.
Tuesday morning, Fort Worth Police had not released the suspect's name.
