Fort Worth, TX – In response to the devastating wildfires in Southern California, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) has partnered with Wings of Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society to transfer adoptable pets from Los Angeles shelters to North Texas. This initiative aims to free up space in LA shelters for pets displaced by the wildfires and provide these animals with a chance at finding new homes1.
Cassie Davidson, Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations for HSNT, emphasized the importance of this effort: "We're creating hope on both ends. Wings of Rescue is flying in hope, and the Humane Society of North Texas is receiving it. It's what compassion looks like in action."
Next Sunday, Wings of Rescue will fly two planes to Dallas-Fort Worth, bringing around 150 animals. These pets include strays and surrendered animals that have been waiting for adoption1. HSNT is calling on the public to help by fostering these pets temporarily, volunteering time, or making donations to cover their care.
Davidson, who recently visited Los Angeles, shared her emotional experience: "Seeing the devastation from above was surreal. The skies were lit up with fire, and my heart sank thinking about all the people and pets affected."
The Humane Society of North Texas is urging the community to step up and support this cause. If you're interested in fostering, volunteering, or donating, you can contact HSNT at foster@hsnt.org.
