More than 800 volunteers will take to Fort Worth neighborhoods to improve the appearance of 40 homes during the 33rd Annual Cowtown Brush Up this Saturday, April 1st.
Trinity Habitat for Humanity volunteers have joined the City of Fort Worth to paint the homes of residents who may be elderly, homebound, or otherwise unable to improve the exterior of their homes.
This Saturday’s event will directly touch the lives of several Fort Worth homeowners and their families, also impacting over 800 volunteers, 33 corporate sponsors and their employees.
Each sponsor contributed at least $1,500, collectively contributing over $60,000 to cover the cost of paint, brushes, rollers, drop cloths and blue trimming tape needed for the project.
This years event is even more significant as it is a living tribute to a world leader for affordable housing, former President Jimmy Carter who is now in home hospice and his wife Rosalynn Carter.
The Cowtown Brush Up began in 1991 when 33 homes in low-income neighborhoods were given a fresh coat of paint, enhancing the neighborhoods’ images.
To date, more than 3,000 homes have been painted by Cowtown Brush Up volunteers.
