A jury in Hunt County has found a former Wolf City police officer not guilty of murder. The verdict came down late Thursday afternoon.

It came down to a case of self defense versus murder and the jury found the testimony of Shaun Lucas, who said he feared for his safety, believable and that he was justified in the shooting.

Lucas was on duty as a cop and was dispatched to a fight at a convenience store. When he got there he claimed that Jonathan Price was intoxicated and resisted arrest.

Lucas' attorney Toby Shook says body camera video shows Lucas using his taser on Price, and that Price was trying to snatch it away. That is when deadly force was used.

The Texas Rangers say Price was unarmed and lethal force was not necessary.
