
Ikea has partnered with a company developing self-driving vehicles to make deliveries to its store in Frisco. The trucks from Kodiak Robotics will deliver items to the Frisco Ikea from the company's warehouse in Baytown near Houston.
"We are proud to be working with Kodiak to achieve our ambitious goals of being at the forefront of innovation and building capabilities for future transportation," saids Dariusz Mroczek, Category Area Transport Manager, IKEA Supply Chain Operations.
The trucks will have a human safety driver on board. The driver will be involved in picking up the loaded trailer at the Baytown warehouse, but for most of the route the trucks will be controlled by Kodiak's autonomous driving technology. Kodiak Robotics has been making deliveries between Dallas and Houston since 2019 and Dallas and San Antonio since 2021.
