Inventor, 'Dog Whisperer' team up to tackle lost pet problem

About ten million pets go missing in the U.S. each year. That includes more than 60,000 in Texas alone.

Ken Ehrman saw the heartbreak first-hand three years ago, when his niece's dog got out and was run over by a car.  Ehrman decided to use his engineering skills to come up with a solution.  It's called the Halo smart collar.

Halo allows the pet owner to draw a boundary on their cellphone, and with the app and special collar, they can teach their animal to remain within that area.  And, if the animal should get out, the collar can emit special sounds to encourage the pet to turn around and head back home, while allowing the owner to be aware of the exact location of their animal.

Ehrman got a major assist in spreading the word on his invention after reaching out to the "Dog Whisperer," famed trainer Cesar Millan.  Halo also incorporates Millan's world-renowned dog psychology for the added benefit of intuitive training.
