An Irving man who sold a 13-year-old girl for sex online has been sentenced to over a decade in federal prison.
Reports say 36-year old Cuirtis Mathis was caught red-handed in selling the teen for sex, and it was because he advertised the victim on a website that has since been shut down by the feds.
Now a federal judge has sentenced Mathis to 11-years in prison.
In 2019 Mathis met the girl and immediatly began trafficking her. He posted ads on the website CityXGuide. The site's owner has been convicted of federal racketeering charges.
The FBI noticed that ad and an agent answered it and set up a sting. Posing as a customer the agent went to an Irving hotel room where they arrested Mathis and rescued the victim. Mathis pleaded guilty a year ago.
“Those who exploit minors for the commercial sex industry have no regard for human decency. These predators are responsible for initiating a pattern of mental and physical abuse that is often hard for their victims to overcome ,” said Jesse Woods, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Homeland Security Investigations Dallas. “Anyone who engages in this type of criminal behavior should know that HSI and its law enforcement partners of the North Texas Trafficking Task Force will work endlessly to remove these predators from our communities.”
