Johnson County Double Back fire near Godley is now 90% contained

Nineteen wildfires remain active in Texas, this is up from twelve on Wednesday.

The largest wildfire is the 1,300 acre Double Back Fire in Johnson County. The Texas A&M Forest Service confirms it is now about 90 percent contained.

And in McLennan County the Haunted Hill fire has burned over about 200 acres and is 95% contained.

Dozer line has been finished around the fire perimeter and engine crews are mopping up across the area. Fire danger ranges from moderate to very high in all 254 Texas counties.

More than three-quarters of Texas counties remain under Heat Advisories, Excessive Heat Warnings and Red Flag Warnings today.

With triple-digit highs recorded over most of the state Wednesday, demand for power in Texas hit a record high the second time this week and ninth time this summer.
