It did not take long for a Dallas County jury to reject a claim of insanity and convict an Irving woman of murdering her two girls.
It's now a sentence of life without parole for 32-year old Madison McDonald of Irving. A jury deliberated less than an hour before convicting McDonald of capital murder.
It was never in dispute that McDonald smothered the 1-year old and 6-year old girls to death in their Valley Ranch apartment two years ago. She drove herself to the Irving Police Department, used the lobby phone and called 9-1-1 to report herself.
McDonald then did a recorded interview with police admitting to the murders.
It was up to the defense to prove it's claim that McDonald was mentally insane at the time but the jury found the lawyers did not reach that threshold.
