McKinney police say it was around 6 the evening of Monday, December 6th when a man riding a motorcycle on West University Drive crashed into the back of a pickup truck driven by Mayor Ray Smith.

Police say the driver of another car didn't yield the right of way when they turned in front of the Mayor's truck, causing him to slam on the brakes, which then led to the motorcycle hitting the truck. After the crash police say the mayor kept driving.

Police later caught up with him and say he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  He told police he didn't see anything in his rear view mirror after the crash so he decided to follow the car that caused the crash until he lost sight of it. A grand jury referral for accident involving personal injury has been filed with the DA's office.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital.
