KELLER (1080 KRLD) - Keller ISD has confirmed a diagnosis of monkeypox at Central High School.
1080 KRLD reached out to Keller ISD for a statement and they confirmed the case of monkeypox but say the individual cannot yet be identified.
The District has also communicated the diagnosis to the families and staff of Central High School, as required by Tarrant County Public Health.
The statement reads, "We are in contact with local health officials and have been reassured that the risk of spread in schools is currently low. As a precaution, potential areas of concern on campus are being sanitized to help mitigate chances of spread."
There are currently over 1,000 monkeypox cases in the state of Texas, but the risk of transmission is still considered rare.
If you think you are at high-risk of contracting monkeypox or believe you are having symptoms, visit the Texas Department of State Health Services website for more information on vaccines in your area.
