GRAND PRAIRIE (1080 KRLD) - Today, a young kitten rescued by police officers in Grand Prairie is getting a new "furrever" family.

Badger, an 8-week-old tabby, was found shivering in the freezing night air on Dec. 3. Officers say she was cold and scared, but that didn't stop the curious little furball from walking right up to them.

Officers took her to the pound … that’s where 11-year-old Daxxon saw her. His aunt, Jeanette Gonzales, says he fell in love immediately. The family adopted her, and today the little kitten's rescuers are giving her a special police escort to her new home.

"We're excited that the police officers wanted to drop her off," Gonzales said. "I thought that was pretty cool and nice of them to do that."

Gonzales says Badger is getting another young kitten friend to play with, named Kitty. Today, the family's plan for Badger is to just give her some time to adjust.

"We're going to let her hang out with the other kitty," Gonzales said. "We'll see how they get along and play. We have another puppy, her name is Pita. We'll see how they all get along."

Gonzales says it's very important to Daxxon that the two kittens become friends so that they can play with each other for years to come. She says the family is grateful the officers took the time to rescue Badger, and they're excited to give her a wonderful new life.
