UPDATED: Several drivers were left with flat tires this morning after hitting a large hole in a Dallas freeway.

Around 8 a.m. drivers started swerving to avoid the deep hole on the eastbound side of I-20 and Bonnieview Rd. But some drivers could not miss the road hazard and when they hit it at freeway speed it immediately deflated their tires.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office quickly found the damaged roadway in the center-right lane and put up barriers until a highway crew could make the repairs.

As the evening rush hour approaches, TxDOT sent out a tweet warning drivers that I-20 is narrowed near Bonnie View Road.

The hazard was a large rectangle several feet around and several inches deep. Officials say the pavement was worn away to the point that the re-bar underneath was exposed.
