Large Southlake home heavily damaged by three-alarm fire

A multi-million dollar Southlake home has very heavy damage from the ferocious fire that raced through the home on Enclave Court.

Officials say the fire erupted about 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the home near Randol Mill and Dove Road. The fire went to three alarms primarily because of the suffocating heat. The extra equipment and manpower was needed to keep rotating firefighters on-and-off the fire line.

Commanders say the fire did not look extremely bad at first. But fiercely hot south winds were gusting up to 24 mph at the time and that quickly whipped up the flames in the attic until the entire roof of the 8,000 square foot home was absolutely swallowed up by fire. The entire roof was burned through and will need very extensive repairs.

The family was home at the time but everyone escaped. Some firefighters were having a hard time from the heat but no one needed to go to the hospital.
