If beer and wine are OK to buy in Texas on Sundays, why not tequila and whiskey? Apparently, there are a couple of lawmakers making the effort to change state law.
Here in Texas, grocery and convenience stores can sell beer and wine seven days a week. But, ready-to-drink cocktails, like canned Ranch waters, have to be sold in liquor stores which are closed on Sundays.
A couple of North Texas lawmakers want to change that. Fort Worth state senator Kelly Hancock and Rockwall state representative Justin Holland have filed bills to allow ready-made cocktails to be sold at grocery and convenience stores, and therefore allow them to be sold on Sunday.
Hancok says the change makes sense to maintain what he calls the "free market principles at the core of Texas’ economic success".
During the last legislative session, lawmakers successfully passed a law that allows Texas restaurants to now sell to-go drinks.
