Leader of Carrollton fentanyl ring sentenced to 20 years

The first person to be busted for the fatal Carrollton fentanyl ring has been sentenced to hard time. Federal Judge Ed Kindeade has locked up 22-year old Luis Navarrete for the next 20-years.

He was one of the kingpins of the deadly Carrollton drug ring,working for the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico.


The drug ring sold to students at two Carrollton middle schools and R.L. Turner High School.

During the lethal run, the fake oxycodone pills killed four and poisoned another 10. One of the dead was a 14-year old. Navarette was among 40 who were ultimately arrested. Agents seized more than a million pills.
