Lewisville ISD is considering significant changes, including the closure of five elementary schools and a redrawing of attendance boundaries, due to declining enrollment numbers.

The district's enrollment peaked at nearly 54,000 students in 2015 but has since dropped below 48,000. Projections estimate that figure will decline further, reaching 45,000 within a decade. The shrinking student population could result in a funding loss of $18 million, according to district leaders.

At a meeting Monday night, parents and students voiced concerns about the proposal, urging the board to explore alternatives.

The board is set to vote on the plan at its regular meeting next Monday.
