A life-altering transplant gave her new hope as a six year old. Now, as a 16 year old she wants to pass that hope to others.
Julia Schnier, the oldest of triplets, was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia at birth. Six years later, her body was having problems. She needed a liver transplant, and when liver nodules started to appear, her care team at Children's Health successfully petitioned for her to be moved up on the transplant list.
The transplant went smoothly. So smootly, in fact, that Julia has had very few complications since.
10 years later, Julia is now in high school and working towards entering the medical field after graduation. Julia says she already knows she wants to be a pediatric nurse practitioner.

She hopes to have the same life-changing impact on patients that her team at Children's Health had on her.
April is National Donate Life Month, a time to encourage people to register as an organ donor and to honor those that have saved lives or benefited through the gift of donation.
