Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has made another generous donation in North Texas.

Superintendent Linda Ellis thought it was a scam when she heard Makenzie Scott made a donation to the Grand Prairie ISD for $16 million. But a follow-up phone call confirmed the donation was a no-strings-attached committment from Scott to help continue the school district's efforts to support their students from low-income families to help them succeed and excell.

"While this isn’t something we applied for, or sought out, we are truly grateful and humbled on behalf of our students and staff" said Ellis.

The author and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has already donated about $12 billion to more than 1,200 groups including multiple universities and organizations.

Just Last month she donated $3.8 million to The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas.

Scott is the third-wealthiest woman in the United States and the 35th-wealthiest individual in the world with an estimated net worth of $33.4 billion.
