Macy's has announced it is closing 66 stores this year, and that includes 5 in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Macy's calls the closures part of its Bold New Chapter plan as it tries to get smaller and fend off falling sales.
The five stores being closed here include the Macy's at The Shops at Willow Bend, Village at Fairview, the two Market by Macy's stores located in Southlake, Flower Mound and the one at West Bend in Fort Worth.
The only other Texas store to close is at Houston's Almeda Mall. Macy's says these are among their underproductive stores.
The company has announced that liquidation sales will start later this month.
In a statement, the retailer said it is planning to lean into its high-end brands and invest in their "go-forward Macy's stores."
